More Info: The Mitchlits family run their 2,000 hectare biodynamic estate in Burgenland, which is the second largest wine producing region in Austria. Red grape varieties dominate in this area thanks to a combination of warm easterly and plenty of sunshine. The mineral-rich volcanic soils are ideal for the vines, producing wines with character.

Angela is the winemaker while her husband takes care of operations and his younger brother looks after the herd of Angus deer, which is what provides the soil with additional nutrition.

All their wines are produced with natural yeasts with no fining or filtration and minimal sulphur.  The wine is transported from one phase to the next using gravity movement and then fermented and aged in either stainless steel tanks, large used oak barrels or concrete eggs.

The grapes used to make this wine were harvested from old vines that have been left to grow totally wild. These vines produce fewer grapes that are thicker and more concentrated, resulting in an outstandingly pure expression of their terroir.
